What Remains

Painting what endures

About Me

Olivier Van Neste (born January 19, 1975, in Oostende, Belgium) is a contemporary painter. Working with traditional watercolor on cold-pressed cotton paper, he is best known for his impressionistic landscapes and seascapes, primarily realized in small to medium-sized formats. His work is characterized by a restrained use of washes and a reduced visual language, with an emphasis on atmosphere, light, and stillness within coastal and oceanic environments.

I capture the feeling of a place the moment it moved me.

Featured Work

I paint what endures.  Therefore I travel to remote places where simplicity and nature are in harmony. Empty coastlines. Fishing villages. Horizons that go on forever.

In these moments and places, I'm drawn to what matters most—the light,

the atmosphere, the feeling of being there. I strip away what's unnecessary and paint what remains. The essence.
