What is the Accessibility Statement?

An accessibility statement explains how your website meets current accessibility standards and how users can report issues or request assistance.

It does not change your design, layout, or content. It’s a formal documentation layer.

Why this matters

Under current EU accessibility regulations, websites are expected to include an accessibility statement. This also applies to businesses outside the EU that serve EU-based clients.

For independent professionals, this is less about enforcement and more about:

  • meeting baseline expectations

  • reducing legal and reputational risk

  • signalling professional responsibility

What this does not involve

An accessibility statement does not require:

  • redesigning your site

  • rebuilding components

  • compromising visual quality

It’s a configuration and documentation step.

When to address this

You should ensure an accessibility statement is in place if:

  • your site was built before 2025

  • accessibility was never explicitly documented

  • you work with EU-based clients

Implementation

You can set this up yourself using Wix tools.

If you prefer, I can check your current setup and implement it correctly for you.
